Some of you may remember that we used to manage online specialty auctions for Father Joe’s Villages (formerly St. Vincent de Paul’s) here in San Diego. We met many people while doing these auctions who are now regular customers of our monthly estate sale auctions.
Father Joe’s Villages has gone through many changes the past year and laid off many of their long-time loyal employees. Fortunately for us, though, is that 2 of the former employees of this non-profit have joined the Cal Auctions team. We’re thrilled and honored that Alex Miranda and and Carlos Saldana are now helping us become one of the best estate sale companies in San Diego.
Alex Miranda is now our Operations Manager, overseeing all the auctions and ensuring that the flow of our daily tasks is running smoothly. Alex was the Operations Manager at Father Joe’s auctions for 25 years and the guy we always turned to if there were any issues. He’s a problem solver, handy man, and all-around jack of all trades. He has a wealth of knowledge about antiques and vintage items.
Remember that $25,000 John Fery painting that was auctioned off in one of the Father Joe’s auctions? Alex was the one who actually discovered it.
Carlos Saldana was also a long-time employee at Father Joe’s Villages. He worked there for 27 years running the furniture warehouse and other retail stores for the non-profit.
Carlos is very knowledgeable in vintage, collectibles, and antiques. When you attend one of the preview days for our monthly warehouse estate auctions, he will be around to answer any of your questions. Carlos is also the man behind the camera taking pictures of most of the items you see in our catalogs.
