An upcoming La Jolla estate sale auction is generating excitement among antique collectors and home decor enthusiasts alike. The sale, which closes on April 11th, features a highly unique and historic estate in the heart of La Jolla and includes a wide range of unique and high-end items.
If you don’t know, La Jolla, California is a beautiful coastal community located in San Diego, known for its picturesque beaches, rugged coastline, and upscale dining and shopping. For those of you who are looking for estate sales in the nicest part of La Jolla, it is difficult to pinpoint the “nicest” part of La Jolla, as the entire area is known for its beauty and charm.
As a La Jolla estate liquidator, we believe that if you appreciate La Jolla’s history, this estate sale will have something for you. Before we talk about all the estate sale items in this auction, however, the home itself is worthy of mention.
The home was designed and built in 1917 by world traveler Florence Howard. It had many Oriental influences, plus there were more than 300 trees planted on the property. Howard decided to return to the orient, so it was sold to the Haydens in 1922. The Haydens lived there until they died and it was then passed to their daughter, Josephine Nortin in 1962. When she passed on, the children inherited the home.
Josephine Norton lived a life of tremendous fortitude and strength. While living in the Philippines as a young girl, she was taken into a Japanese civilian prisoner-of-war camp in Manila along with her parents. They were held captive for just over three years. Despite that, Josephine had an appreciation for the Orient. She traveled to many countries because her father was a well-known engineer.
It’s no wonder that you’ll find many treasures and collectibles from around the world in this La Jolla estate sale. Bid on everything from antique furniture to vintage art, sterling silver collectibles, and more.
In addition to the antiques and collectibles, the sale also offers a wide range of practical items for the home, including rugs, kitchenware, and linens.
This is truly a one-of-a-kind sale and we’re excited and honored to be a part of it. This estate has a rich history that spans over a century, so many of the items up for sale have been in the family for generations. It’s a rare opportunity to own a piece of La Jolla history.
