Framed behind Glass in Ornate Vintage Wood Frame Adorned with Brass Detailing. Titled Gefangen by artist Edouard Bisson who was a French Pre-Raphaelite painter. He is best known for his romanticized paintings of women in atmospheric landscapes, as seen in the painting Two Maidens (1903). Bisson�s work focused on elevating a stylized form of feminine beauty during the Fin de Si�cle. Born on April 6, 1856 in Paris, France, he went on to study under the famed Orientalist painter Jean-L�on G�r�me. A member of the Salon, he exhibited with them frequently and was awarded Honorable Mentions in 1881 and 1889. At the 1900 Universal Exposition in Paris, he was awarded the bronze medal, and in 1908, became a Knight of the Legion of Honor. Bisson died in Paris, France in 1939.
