You\u2019ve probably heard the old adage, \u201cOne man\u2019s trash is another man\u2019s treasure\u201d, which is more true today than ever before. At least, that\u2019s what we\u2019ve noticed this past year based on the sales in our online auctions. So, before you throw out that \u201cjunk\u201d, you may want to consider selling it first.<\/p>\n

Who wants to buy my junk?<\/h3>\n

\u2018Does anyone even want my stuff?\u2019 is a question that many people ask. The answer is: \u201cAbsolutely, yes.\u201d You would be surprised what can sell. What price items will sell for is another topic altogether, though. We\u2019ve seen items that sell for $100 that we thought would only sell for $10, and then we\u2019ve seen items sell for $1 that we thought would get $50. It really all depends on the market for each item and the marketing of said items. Again, that\u2019s where an auction house like us can help. Marketing auctions is our forte.<\/p>\n

Not All<\/em> Trash Is Treasure<\/h3>\n

Of course, there are certain items that are absolute trash and should not be sold at auction. Examples include used underwear, socks, etc. (It\u2019s crazy that we even have to say this but you\u2019d be surprised how many people attempt to sell these types of items.) Consult with your local auctioneer to see what items would be considered good to sell. You could also go through all of the items that you want to get rid of and do research online to see how much they\u2019re worth. Some of you may remember the story of the person who owned the $20K+ art piece<\/a>. If they had done their research, they may have thought twice about donating it!<\/p>\n

Value Is Relative<\/h3>\n

Keep in mind that what might be good to sell in one area or market might be different in another area. For example, trying to sell a piece of farm equipment in a place like New York City might be more challenging than selling that same item in Omaha, Nebraska. Another thing to keep in mind that the value of items is all relative. Value is what someone is willing to pay for something no matter what you think it\u2019s worth.<\/p>\n
